After earning degrees in English, Molecular Biology and Toxicology from the University of Michigan, Aphrodite Nikolovski set her sights on acting (her grandfather was legendary Macedonian actor Todor Nikolovski). Since then, she has built up an imposing list of professional credits onstage, in front of the camera and behind the scenes (even while holding down her day job as a scientist for U of M, The Karmanos Cancer Institute and the State of Michigan). As an actor, she has trained with Rich Goteri of the Detroit Ensemble Theater and The Second City-Detroit and has appeared in numerous films, commercials and theatrical productions. She received critical notices for her work in Devour the Snow at Meadowbrook Theater and The Metamorphosis at the Abreact Performance Space (Nomination Best Show, Between the Lines and Top Ten Shows of 2005, Detroit Free Press) and has pioneered roles in works by award-winning playwrights Joseph Zettelmaier and Jane Martin. She was recently nominated for a Wilde Award (Between the Lines, Best Supporting Actress, Drama) for her work in Joe Zettelmaier's Night Blooming at The Blackbird Theater. Aphrodite can be seen onstage in Frankenstein at Meadowbrook Theater and Amadeus at The Performance Network this season. Her recent film work includes: Crossover (Hoop), The Breakup (Universal), The Island (Dreamworks), Carbon Copy (Aphtic), A Rake Tenor (Detroit Experimental) and Story Time (Grand Valley Pictures). Aphrodite is SAG-eligible and is an AEA candidate.
